Day One at the LTFN AGM
Ecoener Canadian Director Jose E. Auffray presenting to LTFN members attending the 2025 LTFN AGM.
Day One of this year’s AGM was held in the Prince George Civic Centre. LTFN members received updates from Chief & Council and Administration, audited financial statements and a presentation about the Nilhts’i Ecoener Wind Project from Ecoener Canadian Director Jose E. Auffray and Project Manager Dan Visser. This was a unique opportunity for LTFN members to receive an overview of the project to be built 18km east of Hixon in the southern end of LTFN’s traditional territory.
Members heard that further data collection, permitting and engineering would occur during the next few years. Construction will take place in 2030 and 2031 with operations to begin in 2031. Members were pleased to learn that the project has received a 30-year Electricity Purchase Agreement (EPA) from BC Hydro. About 50 LTFN members stopped by the project team’s information table during Day One of the AGM to ask questions following the presentation. They were also encouraged to visit the project website at: www.nilhtsiecoenerwind.com to receive regular updates from the project team.

L to R: Matt Colden, Project Director, Towfiq Islam, LTFN Executive Director, Keilani Rose, AGM CO-MC, Mike Chapin, Ecoener Advisor
Day Two of the AGM was held on the LTFN Northside Reserve located about 30 kilometers north of Prince George. Day Two of the AGM is about family and friends reconnecting while enjoying good food, drumming, music, jet-boat rides, bingo, and a chance to watch Chief and Council get wet at the Dunk Tank which was a fundraiser for the Elder’s Society. The day provided a fabulous opportunity for project team members to meet and talk informally with LTFN members. Many members expressed support for the project and appreciation that their nation is teaming-up with Ecoener to build and operate the important renewable energy project which will help meet BC’s growing demand for more electricity.
