PUBLIC CONSULTATION SUMMARY - FALL 2025

A key priority for the Nilhts’i Ecoener Project team was to open the conversation with the public to ensure that those curious about the project site had ways to communicate with the project team and have their questions answered. The project team considers Hixon the hometown for the project as the wind farm will be located 15km east of the community.

In June, Project Team Manager Dan Visser provided a Project Introduction presentation to over a dozen people associated with the Hixon Community Association. Many asked questions about the project timeline, opportunities for local contractors during construction and environmental impacts. Meetings were also held in June with representatives of the City of Quesnel, Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, City of Prince George, Canfor, and others.

The relationship with the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) is important as Hixon is an unincorporated community represented by RDFFG Area E (Woodpecker-Hixon) Director Art Kaehn. Art strongly suggested the project team meet with the Area Directors of the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) whose areas are located south of the project site.

A Project Introduction virtual meeting was held with CRD Area B Director, Barb Bachmeirer and CRD Area C Director, John Massier in July. Both suggested the project team consider a Project Information meeting be held so residents can ask questions. The project team will schedule this for Spring 2026.

In August, project team members attended the Hixon Fall Fair and spoke with over 40 people who asked questions about the project. Later that month project team members attended the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation 2025 AGM and provided a Project Introduction presentation to over 500 members and answered questions from 50 Lheidli members.

The project team will resume its public consultation activities in 2026. In the meantime, those wanting to know more about the Nilhts’i Ecoener Wind Project can always visit the website at: www.nilhtsiecoenerwind.com or send an email to: info@nilhtsiecoenerwind.com.
